Strada dei Marmi

"Strada dei Marmi" is the new road aimed  for the downstream transport of the marble blocks from the Carrara's quarries. The design of the new road, sponsored by the city of Carrara, has got for the main objective the elimination of the negative effects produced by the heavy transport that for decades battered the city center and the territory, by threatening the economic development of the surrounding areas. Thanks to the environmental engineering, the focus was the improvement of the physical characteristics of the land, the protection of the natural environments and finally the re-development of the native plant species.
