Masterplan - Castellamare-Gragnano Line

CREW, as a member of the Temporary Business Group consisting of top-tier Engineering and Architecture firms — PROGER S.p.A., CREW Cremonesi Workshop Srl, Italferr S.p.A., Hub Engineering Consorzio Stabile S.C.A.R.L, Progin S.p.A., and Gnosis Progetti (participants) — is developing the Technical and Economic Feasibility Study for the conversion of the historic Torre Annunziata - Castellammare di Stabia - Gragnano railway line into a modern and efficient light rail system complemented by a pedestrian and cycling path. This project represents a significant step toward the urban regeneration and infrastructure modernization of the area, aiming to enhance mobility, sustainability, and interconnection among different transportation systems.

The project's primary objectives are as follows:

1.Functional conversion and territorial redevelopment: transforming the existing railway line into a state-of-the-art tramway introduces a new sustainable mode of transport combining electric mobility and universal accessibility. The tramway will be accompanied by a pedestrian and cycling path, improving the experience of active mobility for residents and tourists alike.

2. Urban reconnection and enhancement of disused areas: the removal of walls and fences surrounding the railway line in favor of permeable and accessible spaces will transform disused and marginal areas into high-quality public spaces. This promotes integration between the existing urban fabric and the new transportation system. Key initiatives include:

a. Redevelopment of strategic stops such as Castellammare, Romeo Menti, and Gragnano.

b. Creation of linear parks and new green spaces to enrich the area and improve the quality of life.

c. Establishment of new pedestrian and cycling connections to foster local mobility.

3.Tourism development and regional promotion: by improving accessibility and enhancing strategic points such as green areas, sports facilities, and local attractions, the project will boost tourism and the economic revitalization of the region.
