Busalla Station

Busalla Station, located along the Turin-Genoa railway line, is set to become a strategic intermodal hub, addressing the needs of commuters and strengthening the local mobility network.

The redevelopment project aims to enhance the station building, which has largely been disused in recent years, and improve accessibility to the railway platforms. The intervention also includes the refurbishment of the surrounding areas, returning a functional and welcoming space to the community.

At the heart of the project is the reopening of the Fabbricato Viaggiatori (Passenger Building), currently in a state of disrepair. This historic building will be restored to its original function of serving passengers. The new configuration will feature a modern waiting room, restrooms, and commercial spaces, blending 19th-century architectural features with contemporary solutions to ensure comfort, safety, and usability.

The railway platforms will become fully accessible with the introduction of tactile paths, new elevators, and ramps. New canopies will be installed, enhancing the travel experience and providing greater protection and comfort during waiting times. The underpass will be expanded and renovated with modern finishes, improved lighting, and tactile pathways to facilitate orientation.

The redevelopment will extend beyond the station’s interior. The external area and the square in front of the station will be repaved and largely pedestrianized. The new design will feature green spaces, protected pathways, and areas dedicated to sustainable mobility, including bike racks, electric vehicle charging stations, and facilities for people with reduced mobility. The goal is to enhance accessibility, safety, and the quality of public spaces, restoring the station’s central role in the urban fabric.

Sustainability is a key focus of the project, ensured through the use of low-impact materials and the installation of photovoltaic systems, as well as rainwater management solutions for a more efficient and environmentally friendly infrastructure.

With this intervention, Busalla Station is set to become not just a transit point but a revitalized space capable of promoting urban regeneration and providing quality service to the local community.
