Located along the Cancello–Avellino railway line and just a short distance from the Circumvesuviana stop, the station serves as a key point of reference for the municipality of Sarno and the Agro Nocerino Sarnese area.
The infrastructure currently presents several issues, including accessibility challenges, deterioration of the façades and roof of the Passenger Building, worn platform pavements, and damaged canopies.

The redevelopment project for Sarno Station aims to transform this important transport hub into an accessible, safe, and welcoming environment, while also enhancing its integration with the urban fabric.

The station forecourt will be completely reorganized to create an accessible and functional space, facilitating both pedestrian and vehicular flows. The area will include new parking spaces for electric vehicles and dedicated spots for people with disabilities, while the taxi and bicycle areas will be redesigned to ensure proper space distribution. These improvements will make the forecourt not only a transit point but also a true connection hub for different modes of transport, enhancing intermodality.

The Passenger Building will undergo both internal and external renovations to create functional and welcoming spaces that meet the needs of travelers. The ground floor will feature a new waiting area equipped with modern furnishings and tactile paths to improve accessibility. Outside, the refurbishment of the façades and roof will restore the building’s decorum and functionality.

The platforms and underpass will see major interventions to improve safety and accessibility. The installation of elevators will make the platforms easily accessible to all travelers, removing architectural barriers. The canopies will be refurbished to meet current standards, including targeted maintenance and the addition of new lighting and CCTV systems to ensure greater safety and comfort for passengers. Thanks to these upgrades, travelers will enjoy a more secure and comfortable environment that meets the needs of daily commuters.

From a sustainability perspective, the project embraces eco-friendly principles, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of the station. A 100-square-meter photovoltaic system will be installed, providing a renewable energy source to sustainably meet the station’s energy needs. Additional measures include rainwater management systems and the use of environmentally friendly materials, demonstrating the project’s commitment to respecting natural resources.

The redevelopment of Sarno Station is therefore a comprehensive effort to improve not only efficiency and safety but also the overall travel experience. Harmoniously blending into the natural surroundings and incorporating technological and sustainable solutions, the renewed station will stand as a model of modern infrastructure, respectful of the territory and attentive to the needs of the local community.
